35 Tazawako Marathon New date announced 19 September 2021, 3rd year of Rewa. The executive committee of the Tazawako Marathon gave priority to the safety of the new coronavirus. The marathon will now be held on September 19, 2021.
The Tazawako Marathon is the greatest popular competition in the Tohoku region. Full marathon, 20km, and 10km course is the perfect race for runners who like to challenge their time records. If you like more fun runners, try 3km. Pair marathons are popular among those who want to run with a partner (often seen with a parent or two children) or even show off your unique costume and win a prize for encouraging the crowd.
The Tazawako Marathon is an annual event where runners can enjoy the race in the beautiful scenery. Designed for all levels of the race. If you are an avid runner, you can choose to run full.

How to Watch Tazawako Marathon Live:
If you live in Japan, you can watch live broadcasts of the men’s and women’s races on TBS. What: There is an official live stream of the race through marathon grand championship races (MGC races), half marathons, full marathons, [Paravi], a paid service with a 30-day free trial. It’s not clear if it’s available abroad and the signup only seems to be in Japanese.
NHK’s TV live broadcasts are available in some areas outside of Japan. It’s live streaming of both race’s sports nhk, but only in Japan.
Prizes are awarded as follows:
- All race finishers.
- Top 8 male / female participants in each category.
- Participants (s) have made new entries in the top 3 of past records in each category.
- Top 3 groups with maximum points.
- A few participants who encouraged the events.
- An event worker who deserves to be rewarded.

If a VPN doesn’t work for official streams, I think about a month ago the TV Japan live site seemed good for TBS broadcasting, although the NHK didn’t seem to be working.

Other Remarks:
Access – It is recommended to use public transport as parking will be extremely limited. The nearest station is JR Tajawako Station. From there take a bus (Isshu-sen or Nyuto Line) and get off at the Tazawakohan bus stop.
Shuttle Bus – There will be a free shuttle bus from Nyuto, Kozen, and JR Tajawako Stein. On the way back, there is a shuttle bus from the Koen-Iriguchi stop to JR Tazawako station.
Accommodation – Last-minute accommodation is not recommended; Please reserve your hotel in advance.
